Hineini Kick-off
15 October, 2009
Today we held a school-wide kick-off event for our Hineini program, which is our implementation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. Hineini means “Here I Am” in Hebrew. Students signed the school’s Hineini banner where each child accepts responsibility to prevent bullying on their school’s campus.
This research-based schoolwide “systems-change” program has been used successfully in schools all over the country and around the world with positive results.
Sukkot Food Drive
30 September, 2009
The Kesher Tikkun Olam Committee is sponsoring a Sukkot Food Drive to benefit the residents of the Kivel Campus of Care, home to over 200 senior or mobility-impaired individuals. Kivel residents live in H.U.D. subsidized apartment homes, on low or fixed-incomes. They face difficult choices in allocating their limited resources, sometimes having to choose between medicine and food. The Tikkun Olam Committee will have collection boxes at the main and kindergarten entrances on Thursday, October 1st, and Friday, October 2nd, at both drop-off and pick-up. In addition, donations can also be made on Sunday, October 4th, at the Dinner In the Sukkah event being hosted by the Kesher Social Committee.
